Why We Care
Hemp policy in the United States is in active transition. State and federal rules shape what hemp businesses can grow, process, sell, ship, and educate about. They shape what customers can lawfully receive at their door. And they shape what veterans and their families can access when they go looking for plant-based wellness options.
BattleBuds was founded by combat veterans and a family looking for something better. The mission has always been bigger than a storefront. We believe in informed customers, responsible commerce, and a hemp industry that earns its place by doing things right.
This page is where we share what we know about the regulatory landscape that governs what we do, the resources that can help you stay informed, and the people working in this space.
The Regulatory Landscape
Hemp products are regulated at three levels in the United States:
Federal level. Hemp is defined under federal law as cannabis containing no more than 0.3% delta-9 THC by dry weight. Hemp-derived products are subject to U.S. Food and Drug Administration oversight for matters of food safety, labeling, and consumer protection.
State level. Each state regulates hemp differently. Some states permit the full range of hemp products. Some restrict smokable hemp, hemp flower, or specific cannabinoids. A few prohibit them entirely. Florida regulates hemp extract products through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services under Rule 5K-4.034 and related provisions.
Local level. Counties, cities, apartment complexes, HOAs, workplaces, and private property each have their own rules. A product that is lawful in your state may not be permitted at your specific delivery address.
The interaction of these three levels is what makes hemp law complicated. It is also why customer responsibility matters: you know your jurisdiction, your property, and your situation better than we ever could.

How We Operate
BattleBuds operates within Florida’s hemp regulatory framework and ships only to states and jurisdictions where hemp flower is permitted.
We work with organic, certified hemp farms. We require certificates of analysis on every batch. We sell only to customers 21 years of age or older. We require adult signature on every shipment. We do not ship to states where hemp flower is prohibited or restricted, and we reserve the right to refuse shipments to addresses where the product may not be lawfully received.
These aren’t marketing promises. They’re how we run the business.
Resources for Staying Informed
Hemp law changes. New rules, new court decisions, new state legislation, and new federal guidance arrive regularly. If you want to stay informed:
- Federal: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration publishes guidance on hemp-derived products at fda.gov.
- Florida: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services oversees Florida’s hemp program at fdacs.gov.
- Your state: Your state’s department of agriculture or department of health typically publishes hemp regulations specific to your jurisdiction.
- National advocacy networks: Several non-profit organizations work on cannabis and hemp policy reform at the state and federal level. These organizations publish updates, policy analyses, and information on pending legislation.
We will continue to add resources to this page as we identify ones that genuinely help our customers stay informed.
The Community We Stand With
BattleBuds exists because two combat veterans and a family of caregivers believed the people who have given the most to this country deserve better options. The customers who matter most to us are veterans, their families, caregivers, first responders, and people rebuilding from hard seasons.
Whatever your battle is, we want you to have accurate information about what you’re putting in your body, who’s selling it to you, and what your rights and responsibilities are. That’s not advocacy in the political sense. That’s just respect.
